Verona NY – The 23rd annual New York State High School Football Coaches Associations football coaches clinic kicked off Thursday night at the Turning Stone Casino. A total of nine coaches were on hand to deliver presentations on fundamentals and preparation.

Among the guest speakers were University of Buffalo head coach Maurice Linguist. The Bulls recently competed in the Camelia Bowl held in Montgomery, AL where they defeated Georgia Southern 23-21. During Linquist’s talk, he stressed the importance of developing leaders within the program.

“A third of our locker room is made up of players from the state of New York,” Linquist said. “We build our foundation off of the mindset and attitude of New York players.”

Other guest speakers Thursday included Kyle Flood, an assistant coach from the University of Texas, Tim Salem the tight ends coach from Pitt. Also, 2022 NYSPHSAA state champion head coaches Steve McDuffie from the Bennett Tigers, Matt Gallagher from Maine Endwell and David Moskowitz from James O’Neill.

There are close to 30 vendors on display inside the events center including the U.S. Army, Riddell, Paramount Fundraising and Hudl. Coaches and administrators had opportunities to meet with each vendor in between work sessions.

The clinic runs through Saturday afternoon with an awards banquet Friday evening.
